This recipe is a delicious way to use any extra buttermilk in the fridge!
Buttermilk Cinnamon Bars
2 cups flour 1 t. baking soda
1 ¼ cups sugar 1 t. cinnamon
¼ cup brown sugar ¾ t. salt
8 T. butter, softened 1 cup buttermilk
½ cup chopped nuts 1 t. vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar
3-4 T. milk
¼ t. vanilla
In a large bowl combine flour, sugars and butter and mix at low speed until crumbly. Press 2 cups mixture into ungreased 9x13 baking pan.
To remaining crumb mixture, add remaining ingredients and blend well. Pour evenly over crumb crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until done. Cool 20 minutes.
To prepare frosting, blend all ingredients until smooth. Spread over cooled cake. Cut into bars and serve.
